– Will be India’s first airport with water taxi service
– NAINA project implementation to be expedited
Mumbai, April 24 – Considering future challenges, it is essential to build environmentally sustainable and prosperous cities. Emphasizing the use of solar energy, multi-modal transport systems, and job creation, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed that the Navi Mumbai International Airport be developed with multi-modal transport connectivity. He stated that water taxi services should be made available at the airport, which would make it India’s first international airport to offer this facility.
Stressing the need to first establish general aviation facilities at the new airport, CM Fadnavis said that since aircraft from across the world fly into Mumbai, there must be robust parking and aircraft maintenance facilities at this site. Connectivity via roads, railways, metro, and waterways must be completed on time, he added.
Fadnavis also emphasized speedy implementation of the NAINA (Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area) project, ensuring that the width of roads under the project be planned considering future traffic demands. He insisted on fixing clear timelines for both ongoing and future infrastructure projects and including strict deadlines in tenders to prevent delays, given the availability of modern technology.
He further directed that multi-modal transportation should be developed from the metro station to the airport, ensuring zero inconvenience to the public. CIDCO must complete all works within stipulated timelines and ensure high-quality standards in housing and infrastructure. CIDCO should also take the lead in making affordable housing available to the public.
With work on sports infrastructure progressing in the Navi Mumbai region, CM Fadnavis instructed that the Kharghar Valley Golf Course project be completed soon.
The review meeting at Sahyadri Guest House was attended by Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal, CIDCO Managing Director Vijay Singhal, Additional Chief Secretary (Planning) Rajgopal Deora, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) O. P. Gupta, and CIDCO Joint Managing Director Shantanu Goyal among others.
Proposed Future Projects by CIDCO:
Aerocity on 270 hectares, featuring commercial complexes, business centers, and shopping malls
International Corporate Park at Kharghar on 155 hectares
Integrated Logistics Park spread over 389 hectares
EduCity on 102 hectares
