Mumbai, March 31: Night flight services have officially commenced at Shirdi International Airport on the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa. With the successful completion of runway asphalting, this historic facility is now operational. Due to the efforts of Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) and regulatory bodies, air connectivity in Shirdi has reached new heights.
This new phase will benefit pilgrims and tourists alike, with IndiGo Airlines adding two new aircraft to its service. Specifically, a regular flight with a capacity of 78 passengers has been introduced on the Hyderabad-Shirdi-Hyderabad route. This service is being launched as a gift to devotees on the auspicious occasions of Gudi Padwa and Ugadi.
With this expansion, Shirdi Airport will now handle a total of 11 daily flights (22 movements), catering to approximately 2,200 passengers per day. This is considered a major achievement for infrastructure and the aviation sector.
This service will be especially beneficial for devotees visiting Shirdi for Sai Baba’s darshan and attending the Kakad Aarti at 4 AM. Several airlines have also expressed their interest in launching more services to Shirdi.
The initiation of night flight operations at Shirdi Airport has been made possible due to the vision of Chief Minister and Maharashtra Airport Development Company Chairman Devendra Fadnavis.
Speaking on this historic occasion, Swati Pande, Managing Director of Maharashtra Airport Development Company, stated that this facility will not only boost the aviation sector but also promote religious tourism. She further expressed confidence that, given Shirdi’s growing popularity, more services will be introduced in the future.
